Early Olympic Games  Founded in 776 at Olympia, Greece.  Was Pierre de Coubertin The person responsible for organizing the first International Olympic Committee. 

 This In April 1896, the committee decided to hold the first modem Olympic Games in Athens, Greece.The 2000 Games in Paris were the first Olympic Games for women.

In 1896, out of 241 participants from 14 countries, the number grew to nearly 11,000 From 202 countries at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens.In ancient times the winners of the Olympic Games were crowned with a wreath of laurel leaves.  They Were regarded as heroes and held in great esteem.  The government looked after the welfare of others Their lives.  Modern Olympic winners are also highly regarded by their countries.  They Sometimes there are material rewards.

So far, only two Olympic winners have been able to boast of Sri Lanka.  The first Sri Lankan was Duncan White Winning a medal at the Olympics.  He won a silver medal in the 400-meter hurdles at the Olympics London in 1948.  Susanthika Jayasinghe won the bronze medal in the women's 200m 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia.

The Olympic Games are held every four years in different countries.  2008 Olympic Games held in Beijing, China.
