NEWS PAPER IN SRI LANKA
Newspaper have become an indispensable feature of modern life.Scarcely a day passes without our having in our hands either a daily or weekly paper.To many people indeed,the morning newspaper is as necessary as their breakfast.
Sri Lanka is fortunate in having a wellinformed,modern press producing several newspapers in Sinhala,Tamil and English.Tow of the newspapers I like to read are the Daily news and The Island.
Many government departments and mercantile companies advertise vacancies in the Daily News.This paper gives prominence to local news.I like The Island newspaper because it has articles on various topics such as education,arts,culture etc.The Island paper contains a separate section called Leisure land which contains articles about caring for animals and their right to live.It also has puzzles and scrambled word games which improve our English and general knowledge.Both the Daily News and The Island have cartoons and some of these are very interesting.
We get information about the important events taking place in every country for a few rupees through reading newspapers.We can gain a lot of knowledge about sports,athletics and world famous sportsmen.We can also learn about new technological advances and inventions.
